Conduct, and codes thereof.

You are not being censored for your opinion. Let me repeat that, for those at the back: You are not being censored for your opinion. Nobody on any of the mailing lists, user forums, bug trackers, or other community interaction sites you use is censoring you for your opinion. There is no vast conspiracy, there is no secret cabal.

You MAY, however, be censored for acting like a di… like a pr… for acting in a disrespectful and abrasive manner. Everybody is entitled to their opinion – and that includes people who disagree with you. However, sometimes people may feel that the only way to express their opinions is by attacking the integrity or motives of anyone who disagrees with them. THIS may wind up getting you censored. Filing political issues as bugs may end up with those bugs being closed (because, well, they’re not bugs). And so on.

Ubuntu, as with a number of larger Free Software projects, includes a code of conduct, which attempts to cement a basic framework for how people should interact with one another. If you feel you are being censored, then perhaps it’s not for your opinion – but because you are failing to follow the CoC? Just a thought…
